ABOUT THE RECONSTRUCTION

A planet across deep time.

Modern surface: NASA Blue Marble, GSHHG coastlines and NOAA ETOPO 2022 relief.
Last 80,000 years: PaleoMIST 1.0.
Last 540 million years: PALEOMAP PaleoDEM.
Back to 1.8 billion years ago: CAO2024 continental blocks.

Early Earth, ancient clouds, fine surface detail, colours and Cryogenian ice fronts are illustrative. Theia represents the giant-impact hypothesis for lunar formation. The approach follows two-body gravity; melt flow, ejecta and lunar assembly are visual reconstructions. Later impacts are representative examples. Ancient maps are interpolated; this is not a physical tectonics simulator.

Drag to orbit. Scroll or pinch to zoom. Studio light keeps the visible globe readable; sunlight preserves day and night.

The timeline is nonlinear. The 60-second journey uses ten paced chapters. Land imagery dates to August 2004; cloud imagery to July 2001. This is not live weather.
